The Fund at Work
The Jane Higdon Memorial Fund has provided the following grants since inception in 2007:

- $10,200 to Committed Partners for Youth/Big Brothers Big Sisters to provide scholarships for at risk girls. Girls apply for scholarships with statements of how the scholarship will further their aspirations concordant with the Foundation vision, in a mentored environment

- $11,200 to Emerald Aquatics to provide scholarships that support motivated girls who wish to achieve excellence in swimming but are unable to afford coaching

- $14,000 to the Lane Community College Nursing Scholarship program

- $3000 to Courageous Kids summer camp, for children coping with loss

- $4000 to the Center for the Study of Women in Society at the University of Oregon, to provide the Jane Higdon Senior Thesis Scholarships, supporting undergraduate students exhibiting academic merit and need.

- $1600 to WomenSpace to support Healthy Relationships and Girls as Leaders programs

- $20,437 to Ophelia’s Place to sponsor
- “Girls in Action” summer workshops that focus on “skill building for self-esteem, self-confidence, gaining survival skills, and having fun”
- Decision Education Foundation summer camps
- All girls mountain bike ride

- $1000 to Looking Glass Youth and Family Services for YMCA memberships for girls in residential care
- $11,500 to SPICE summer camp program to inspire interest in science for young girls

- $2000 to Girls on the Run Willamette Valley for Lane County scholarships to empower 3rd to 8th grade girls in life skills and physical activity
- $1000 to Eugene Family YMCA for STEM summer camp for girls
- $2150 to Boys and Girls Clubs of Emerald Valley for Smart Girls program
- $500 to City of Eugene Teen Girls mountain bike program
- $1500 to Science Factory for summer science adventures scholarships for girls
- $3000 to New Moves program for wellness promotion program for adolescent girls through Emerald Valley Boys and Girls Club
- $1190 to City of Eugene Outdoor Challenge for girls
- $650 to Greater Eugene Area Riders (GEARS) in partnership with City of Eugene Bike Camp, YMCA, and Girl Scouts for scholarships to train for and enter Blackberry bRamble 37-117 mile ride options
- $4000 to Eugene Science Center for Girls Science Adventures
- $1000 to Friends of the Children to help start and support girls in formation of Eugene chapter
The Jane Higdon Fund for Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety grants/donations:

- $220,600 to certify 4J, Bethel, and Springield School District middle school PE teachers in the Bike Safety Education program through League of American Bicyclists Smart Cycling BikeEd program, and now available in Eugene/Springfield middle schools and expanding to rural Lane County. - $100,000 to Eugene Civic Alliance for bike and pedestrian path through Civic Stadium renovation project

- $87,500 to Lane County in community support of successful federal loan application to improve the Gillespie Corners to Lorane segment of Territorial highway

- $277,000 to Better Eugene-Springfield Transit Vision Zero program to reduce bicycle and pedestrian deaths to zero

- $5000 to the Bicycle Transportation Alliance for the Eye to Eye Campaign, an Oregon multi-city safety campaign directed at all road users with a mission to foster a culture of awareness and respect on shared paths and roadways

- $1200 to the Safety Education Plaza on Bailey Hill Road, a community sponsored memorial to 10 year old Vaclav Hajek
- $3,550 to Greater Eugene Area Riders for scholarships for Blackberry Bramble
- $4000 to South Lane School District for bike fleet updates and maintenance
Scholarships Through Jane Higdon Memorial Fund
Scholarships are not provided directly to individuals. The JHMF can only provide grant money to a 501(c)(3) charitable organization (or equivalent), who must have a mechanism to manage the grant or scholarship and provide reporting on results.
